Telugu Cinema has probably been the only film industry to have bounced back in full form this year, braving the challenge posed by the pandemic. The crowds are back to the theatres and how! Besides a few projects that have commenced earlier this year, several films that were to release in 2020 have booked their Friday slots in 2021. It’s interesting to notice that many leading heroes have multiple releases in 2021 – a rare phenomenon, at least in recent years.

Nithiin has as many as three releases in five months – including Check, Rang De and the Andha Dhun remake. Venkatesh too is likely to have the same release count with Narappa, F3 and Drushyam 2. Pawan Kalyan’s Vakeel Saab is releasing in April, while his multi-starrer with Rana Daggubati (Ayyappanum Koshiyum remake) is expected to hit theatres in the second half of the year. Apart from this project, Rana too has two other releases this year – Aranya and Viraata Parvam.

If one were to take into consideration the special appearance in Acharya besides RRR, even Ram Charan would have two releases in 2021. Ravi Teja awaits the release of Khiladi in the summer after having the first major hit in the industry this year, Krack. Sharwanand in addition to Sreekaram and Mahasamudram may also see the release of his bilingual with Ritu Varma in the coming months. Without any doubt, this is going to be a feast for Telugu film lovers who were left disappointed in 2020, having to manage with OTT content alone.
