The reAlities of the film industry can be harsh at times, but it takes a thick skin and a few smart decisions to survive its storms. Trends here change at the drop of the hat and this reAlity is especially true for comedians. Most of the senior comedians are no more and the likes of Babu Mohan, Sudhakar, Brahmanandam and now, Ali, who once ruled the roost in Telugu cinema are hardly seen these days as the industry has moved onto fresh talents like Vennela Kishore, Venu Tillu, Mahesh Vitta, Getup Srinu, Suhas among others.

While Babu Mohan has more or less given up on films, Brahmanandam is doing that one occasional film, Ali is balancing between television and movies quite well. Ali, who’s had a nearly four-decade stint in the film industry, perhaps had reAlised the uncertainty of the profession early, as he had actively begun hosting Alitho Saradaga, a weekly talk show which has completed over 200 episodes now on ETV. The actor, who was recently seen in Krack, has been a wonderful host and his presence has helped the audiences unravelled celebrity secrets that only an industry insider can tap into.

Besides, he’s been part of the Yamaleela sequel on television, supervised by S V Krishna Reddy. He has also launched his production house to make content for the digital space. Ali’s back to doing a couple of films as a lead, while also acting as a comedian in films like Liger, Son of India. For all those upcoming actors looking for a long innings in the industry, Ali’s career is a good example worth analysing.
