The Active Telugu Film Producers’ Guild asks for pay cuts. But, this seems unfeasible as top heroes and star directors aren't willing to obey it. It’s been seven months since lockdown was enforced and gradually film shoots are resuming.
The lockdown has cost bomb for Tollywood producers in form of interests and following Covid-19 guidelines on sets is an additional expenditure. Here’s the statement issued by Producers’ Guild.
“The Movie Artistes Association & The Active Telugu Film Producers Guild have agreed that 20% reduction on remunerations shall be applicable (pre lockdown rates).
Under 20,000/per day artistes shall be exempt from this reduction.
In regard to Technicians, individuals drawing over Rs.5 lakh per film are expected to extend the same reduction of 20%."
Though Tollywood character artists, small to medium range heroes and directors may agree to the terms as getting more assignments is significant for them. But, that’s not the case with star heroes and directors.
On the other hand, the Tollywood producers who issued the statement are to be blamed as even they don’t stick to it. Because of some of the producers who wish to make films with stars and top directors offer them additional pay in order to sign them for their next projects.
