Many studios in Tollywood which are disbanded for more than a decade are now buzzing with activities as filmmakers who are not keen to take risks shooting outside are preferring to shoot their films indoors in the studios. Many say this situation will continue till COVID 19 vaccine comes in the market.
Ravi Teja is doing Krack with Shruti Haasan and the director Gopichand Malineni confessed that the studios will start the activity as the makers are considering indoor shoots. He says studios are safe at present and added that even crowded scenes in the studios can have better control and also have all safety measures ensured with regards to the pandemic.
He says in studios one can erect sets according to the requirement and a road set can be erected without fans and crowds disturbing the stars. Recently renowned studios like RFC, Padmalaya, Ramanaidu Studios, Annapurna Studios, Sarathi Studios, Ramakrishna Studios and many others shut the studios due to losses because of lack of income.
Some studios let out their space for TV reality shows and others are planning to turn the studios into a reality hub. Director Teja said that the studios lost their charm due to police stations, roads, and messy gardens and says his creativity is dented as the studios have seen it all before look.
He said legendary director Nagi Reddy of Vauhini Studios used to relay the parks, gardens, and police stations and roads to give fresh experience to the makers and now such thing is not happening.
Analyzing the situation Teja said studio owners started concentrating on star centric movies numbering 15 instead of medium and small range movies numbering around 60-70. He said top producers and others cannot afford to repair the set for the example police station and start shooting and so they started shooting outdoors.
He said now safety guidelines came as a blessing in disguise to disbanded studios who are now lending the studios for Hindi, Tamil movies, and reality shows. Sampath Nandi who shot Seeti Maarr with Gopichand and Tamanna in Europe, Bangkok, and Dubai says he is forced to return to studio considering the safety of the cast and crew. He said he will start shooting from August in a village set in a city studio.
