The outbreak of Covid-19 has cast a dark spell on the Hyderabad city’s jubilant mood to celebrate festivals of different religions. Ganesh Chathuthi will be a low-key affair this year with the lockdown is expected to be extended for few more weeks.
Khairatabad Ganesh which is the most popular in Telugu states for its towering height will stand just 1 feet height this year. Ganesh Utsav Committee took the decision due to massive spread of virus in GHMC region. The organizers will not be performing Karra puja which was supposed to be perform on May 18th to commence works related to crafting of the idol.
Last year, the height of the Ganesh idol was 61-feet. Apparently, devotees will not be allowed to visit the Ganesh idol this year as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus.
