Coronavirus outbreak and the successive lockdown badly hit many industries and film industry is in dire stairs now. We can’t presume when will theaters re-open and when will people dare coming to theaters to watch films on big screen.
Certainly, there won’t be much negative impact on commercial entertainers of star heroes. But, there will be huge effect on small to medium budget films, especially female oriented films. Now, few filmmakers are choosing to release their films directly on OTT platforms.
There have been speculations that, Anushka’s Nishabdham makers are considering digital release, though the issue might be with the amount being offered by the OTT players. The deal is expected to close very soon.
Interim, speculations are rife with the reports that, Keerthy Suresh’s long delayed project Penguin directed by Eshwar Karthik and bankrolled by Karthik Subbaraj. As per reports, Amazon Prime Video has acquired digital rights and the film will be premiered in the platform in next month.
Apart from these, there are several other female oriented films which are likely to have direct OTT release.
