Is This Reason Behind Baahubali Failure In China?

Ace director SS Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali created a sensation not only across the country but also at the international level. However, for all the name and fame, the film failed to decipher the Chinese Zodiac. The makers dreamed that Baahubali will conquer the Chinese market and set a new record.

But much to the shock of all the film failed at the Chinese box office. Few analysts dissecting Baahubali failure said Hollywood films do well in China and Chinese after watching quality Hollywood films might have felt that there was nothing new in Baahubali and for that matter even in Rajinikanth's 2.0.

Another source revealed that while Baahubali 2 succeeded as a fantasy thriller in India due to its VFX, in China it failed as China has superior VFX technology. The source felt that the makers erred in promoting the film as a revenge drama and had they promoted the film as a mother son revenge story, it could have connected chords emotionally with the Chinese. The source felt that while 'Why Kattappa killed Baahubali' worked in India, the same knocked Baahubali out in China.
