Priyamani, The Victim Of Nayeem

As we reported earlier, Priyamani is making her comeback to films with an important role in handsome hunk Rana Daggubati’s periodic action entertainer Virata Parvam 1992 to be helmed by Venu Udugula of Needi Naadi Oke Katha fame. Now, the details of Priyamani’s character in the film have been unveiled.

Priyamani is said to be playing the role of a rebellion singer which is loosely based on popular Telangana folk singer Belli Lalitha who was viciously killed by gangster Nayeem. In 1999, Lalitha, founder of Telangana Kala Samithi, was kidnapped, assaulted, and hacked with an axe to the point her body parts were dismembered into 17 pieces. Her dismembered body parts were then thrown in front of the Choutupoal police station by the assailants.

It is also heard that, Priyamani was bowled out by the script and the role she was offered as she gave immediate nod. Virata Parvam 1992 will be set in the 1990s. Sai Pallavi will be playing a Naxalite in love with a cop played by Rana Daggubati. Yesteryear actress Tabu will also be playing an important role as a social activist in the film.
