Although a section of people welcomed tax exemption to Natasimhm Nandamuri Balakrishna's 'Gauthamiputra Satakarni' in Telugu states, another section is arguing that GPS was made as a commercial entertainer in different format with a huge budget allocated to it as such the film need not be given tax exemption.

Especially, the AP government denying tax exemption to Gunasekhar's 'Rudhramadevi' and announcing the same to GPS, turned out to be controversial. "In fact, there were no clear evidences on Satakarni's life. But then, Rudhramadevi, who ruled Telugu land,  was acclaimed as a courageous woman of her generation and stood as an inspiration for women of all times. A movie made on her story must be honroured with tax exemption. It's high time the AP Government had announced tax exemption to Rudhramadevi,"  demanded some of the fans of Rudhramadevi.

A hashtag "#SupportRDfortaxexemptioninAP,"  was also created by the supporters of Rudhramadevi. It remains to be seen whether the AP government responds with these online protests or not.
