One More Sequel Failed!

Sequels have got low success rate in Indian cinema unlike Hollywood. Yet, our film makers are so fascinated in designing sequels that they end up only in easy cashing up on past films’ craze. ‘Kahaani 2’ from Vidya Balan arrived yesterday in theatres liquidating on super hit thriller ‘Kahaani’ opened to thumbs down response. ‘Kahaani 2’ has no connection with ‘Kahaani’ and it can’t be called a sequel on any terms except Vidya Balan in a stronger woman oriented narrative.

Early birds from Bollywood say that, ‘Kahaani 2’ is although not as thrilling and engaging as first part yet it can be a safe flick for all those who enjoy heroines in unlikely super hero roles. Vidya Balan powered this flick with a mind blowing performance giving a salvation for a feebly dealt, predictable second half. 

Although Sujoy Ghosh directed ‘Kahaani 2’ goes down as one more failed sequel yet the film remains remarkable for one more courageous portrayal of Vidya Balan as Vidya Sinha and Durga Rani Singh. Trade buzz says, ‘Kahaani 2’ will be a safe Box Office bet but not as big commercial applause as first in the franchise.
