Patriotic Actor Gets India's Highest Award in Cinema

Manoj Kumar aka Harikrishna Giri Goswami has been conferred India's highest award in cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke by the government today. Manoj Kumar, the actor and director is mostly known for his patriotic films. 

Upkaar, Hariyali Aur Raasta, Woh Kaun Thi?, Himalaya Ki God Mein, Do Badan, Patthar Ke Sanam, Neel Kamal, Purab Aur Paschim, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, and Kranti are some of the master pieces of Majoj Kumar. 'Mere Desh Ki Dharthi' song from 'Upkar' stood as one of the all time best patriotic songs of Bollywood.

It was due to his patriotic fervour, he was given the nick name Manoj 'Bharat' Kumar. He received Padma Shri Award by the Government of India in 1992.
