Definitions of Movies' Statuses

The statuses of movies are categorized as Industry Hit, blockbuster, super hit, hit, above average, average, below average, flop and utter flop( disaster). Given below are the definitions and examples of movie statuses. 

Industry Hit: A movie that sets new record in full run shares is called an Industry Hit. It crosses full run( closing) shares of previous Industry Hit

e.g.: Pokiri( Rs.40 cr.), Magadheera( Rs.78 cr.) and 'Atharintiki Daredi'( Rs.81 cr.)

BLOCKBUSTER: A movie that narrowly misses Industry Hit status or fetching maximum profits to all the people who associate with the project can be appraised a blockbuster. However, small budget movies made of just Rs.2 to 3 crores and getting Rs.5 or 6 crores share cannot be considered blockbusters. A blockbuster movie must be watched by people of all sections in big numbers. A small budget movie must collect a minimum of Rs.15+ crores where as its limit starts from 30+ crores to big ticket entertainers based on their investments. 

e.g.: Gabbar Singh, Dookudu, Rachcha, Race Gurram, Simhadri, Mirchi, Simha, Manam etc.

SUPER HIT: A movie that gets considerable profits in all areas is considered to be a super hit. 

e.g.: Jalsa, SVSC, Pataas, Yevadu, 100% Love, Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde, Swamy Raa Raa etc.

HIT: A movie that gets little profits in all areas is nothing but a hit. 

e.g: Suswagatham, Rajakumarudu, Chirutha, Bunny, Adhurs, Darling, Ishq, Tadakha etc. 

ABOVE AVERAGE( SEMI HIT): A movie that gets minor losses in some areas and little profits or break even in some other areas comes under this category. However, irrespective of the investments put in, if a movie crosses above Rs. 45 crores share, its range shall be started with 'above average'. Movies like 'Baahubali' are exceptional cases owing to astronomical budget.

e.g.:Baadshah, Temper, S/o Satyamurthy etc.

AVERAGE: If a movie gets losses in some areas and reaches break even in other areas can be called an average grosser. Overall share of the movie shall be little lesser or equal to its pre release business.

e.g.: Baalu, Arjun, Samba, Govindhudu Andarivadele etc.

BELOW AVERAGE: If a movie incurs little losses in all areas where it is released, it can be called a below average grosser. The movie may reach break even in one or two areas.

e.g.: Gudumba Shankar, Takkari Donga, Ashok

FLOP: If a movie gets considerable losses in all areas, it can be termed as a flop.

e.g.: Teenmaar, Athidhi, Kanthri etc.

UTTER FLOP( DISASTER): If a movie incurs uttermost losses in all areas, it shall be treated as a disaster.
