Ram Charan Tej missed the opportunity of being an Idiot and it was by choice. The young hero revealed this during the audio launch of Snehithudu, here on Thursday night. Snehithudu is the Telugu dubbed version of the Tamil film Nanbaan, which is a remake of Hindi blockbuster 3 Idiots in which Aamir Khan played the role of Chanchad to perfection.

The producers approached Ram Charan for the remake but the Magadheera developed cold feet.

"I was shown the movie even before release by the Hindi producers. I was extremely impressed with the film. But I was afraid to do it in Telugu as it is not an easy job to step into the shoes of a legend like Aamir Khan,” he said.

Ram Charan, whose praise of Tamil directors drew a big bout of controversy in Tollywood, said that he knew Shankar would be the director of the remake and he would have accepted without a second thought but for the Aamir Khan factor. He also shared an interesting snippet about Shankar’s film Gentleman which made his father know about his interest in dance.

“The movie has the song Chikubaku Chikubaku Raile. When my dad Chiranjeevi did not really know about my ability to dance, I used that song to showcase my moves to him. He was deeply impressed and became totally convinced that I was a good dancer”, he said.
