Venkatesh escapes from Drishyam debacle

Mohanlal's Drishyam 3 directed by Jeethu Joseph generated tremendous interest when it was announced as it was the third in the franchise of hit film Drishyam.

Many thought and even Drishyam makers planned to remake Drishyam 3 in Telugu with Venkatesh in the lead as he earlier starred in the first two parts and turned out to be hits. However, Venkatesh for some reason decided against doing the remake and concentrated on current projects.

Now, Drishyam 3 dubbed version which released in Telugu got mediocre response. A distributor says “Collections on day one are meagre. Many viewers feel that the last 20 minutes provide the major high points of the film, while the overall writing hasn't completely lived up to expectations. However, Mohanlal once again delivered a compelling performance,”

The distributor adds "Trade observers believe that if a Telugu version wouldn't have been anything much greater because this time the story revolves around guil than crime and didn't have enough meat make the third instalment a big winner. Tactical or otherwise, Venkatesh had a great escape,"
