Director Gautham Vasudev Menon recently held a press meet in Chennai to promote his upcoming film "Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha," starring Varun of Bigg Boss Tamil fame. During the event, he shed light on the film's connection to his long-awaited Vikram-starrer "Dhruva Natchathiram" and provided an update on the sequel to the Silambarasan-starrer "Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu."
When asked about "Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha," Gautham revealed that actor Divyadarshini, popularly known as DD, features in both films. He explained, "DD worked with me in 'Dhruva Natchathiram,' and I told her that the character in 'Joshua' is similar to what she did in 'Dhruva Natchathiram,' or it might be an extension. There is a connection between both films, which viewers will understand when they watch 'Dhruva Natchathiram.'"
Interestingly, Gautham's successful Simbu-starrer "Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu" was produced in 2022 by Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International, who is also the producer of "Joshua." However, after the release of "Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu," a rift developed between the producer and Simbu, reportedly due to Simbu's reluctance to commit to more projects with the production house. When asked about a sequel to the film, Gautham hinted at the possibility but noted the current controversy, stating, "That is quite controversial. But, I am ready to start the project the day the producer and actor reconcile."
In addition to directing, Gautham has ventured into acting. He is set to star in director Bobby's upcoming Telugu film with Balakrishna and will also feature in Vetrimaaran's Tamil film "Viduthalai Part 2." As for "Dhruva Natchathiram," its release date remains uncertain, as the film has faced multiple postponements over the years.
