Vijay Sethupathi opted out of Pedha Kapu 1. It was reported that Vijay Sethupathi had considered a significant role in the recently released 'Pedha Kapu.' He even took the time to listen to the story and expressed interest in joining the production a few months ago. However, as it turns out, Vijay Sethupathi initially expressed his intent to be part of the film but subsequently failed to show up for the shooting, leaving the entire crew waiting for several days.

Apparently, Vijay Sethupathi had a change of heart, likely due to concerns about the underdeveloped nature of his character in the script. He decided to withdraw from the project, recognizing that it might not align with his rising stature, especially as he had other major releases like 'Jawan' on the horizon. This information comes from a source in Chennai, who further notes that the role was eventually taken on by director Srikanth Addala himself. Unfortunately, the replacement did not result in an exciting outcome for the audience, as the film ultimately performed poorly at the box office. 'Sethupathi was fortunate to have avoided this particular role, given the film's lackluster performance,' the source adds.

Vijay Sethupathi, undoubtedly, marked his debut in Tollywood with an impressive portrayal as the ruthless and caste-obsessed father of Kriti Shetty in the blockbuster film 'Uppena,' showcasing his remarkable acting skills. He also made a brief appearance in another Telugu film, 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy,' and expressed his admiration for the legendary Megastar Chiranjeevi.

The source emphasizes that while Vijay Sethupathi received numerous offers from Telugu filmmakers, he declined most of them due to his reluctance to take on routine negative roles. He has risen to prominence as one of the most versatile and beloved heroes in the Tamil film industry. However, he did make exceptions for superstars like Kamal Haasan and Vijay, playing antagonist roles in their films, such as 'Vikram' and 'Master.'
