Tirupati MLA and Praja Rajyam chief K Chiranjeevi took up a padayatra from Lila Centre here in protest against the mismanagement of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam affairs.
Chiranjeevi told mediamen post-padayatra on Friday that the TTD panel brought disrepute to the Hindu idols being worshipped atop the hills.
The actor-turned politician was confused as to who should probe the temple affairs. At first, he urged the government to order a CBI probe into the theft of the temple ornaments gifted by Sri Krishna Devaraya and others. He later sought action against guilty after a thorough probe by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.
Chiranjeevi seemed to have picked a cue from CPI general secretary K Narayana who demanded a probe by a sitting judge of High Court into the Sompeta incidents the other day.
Chiranjeevi seemed to have doubts with regard to the functioning of the TTD officials as he found their answers to several temple issues vague. He said the padayatra was meant to expose the irregularities allegedly committed by the TTD officials.
Twelve PRP MLAs accompanied the actor during his padayatra.
