YSR Jayanthi: State gifts YSR legacy to Kadapa dist

Kadapa district will be known as YSR district from Thursday. Commemorating the Jayanthi of late Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy (July 8), the Government rechristened the Kadapa district as YSR district.

As reported earlier, the Andhra Pradesh Government on June 18 decided to rename Kadapa district after YSR.

Initially, the state government wanted to rename Kadapa as YS Rajasekhara Reddy Kadapa district. In view of the length of the nomenclature, the Cabinet decided to rename Kadapa as YSR district.
