Rousing reception awaited Kadapa MP Ys Jaganmohan Reddy as soon as he alighted from the Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknama Express at the platform here on Thursday.
Thousands of student, youth and Congress workers jostled with each other to receive and greet the son of their beloved leader YS Rajasekhar Reddy which made difficult for Jagan to get down from the train which was already late by an hour.
Jagan left for R & B Guest House from Ichchapuram station before he attended a huge public meeting at Praja Prasthana Vijaya Vatika from where his father late YSR had launched his 1500-km padayatra in the peak of summer in 2004.
Unveiling a portrait of his father, Jagan said he was reminded of the love of the people towards his father. ``I am not alone despite the death of my father who had bequethed me a larger family of well-wishers. I could see my father's presence amidst your love and greetings,'' he felt.
Stating that the Odarpu Yatra, which he has launched (in defiance of the Congress High Command) to console the 14 bereaved famillies who suffered the loss on the death of YSR, is meant to express his gratitude to the people of the region.
Jagan also cut a massive cake to mark the birth anniversary of YSR at the Vedika before distributing it to the party activists .
Later, Jagan left for Loddiputti village where he met the bereaved family members of P Chandramma who died of a stroke on hearing the death of YS Rajasekhar Reddy on Sept 2, 2009.
Jagan proceeded to Jagatee village in Committee mandal to meet another bereaved family where he is expected to spend at least 40 minutes.
