The ambitious project of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (Ttd )chairman Adikesavulu Naidu to cover up the entire Central Tirumala temple with gold, received rude shock on Wednesday when the Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the Ttd to stop the gold plating work with immediate effect.
The High Court turned down many PILs to halt the gold plating project for want of valid reasons. On Wednesday the Court could not ignore the PIL filed by litigant Prakash Rao who invoked the archeology act claiming that the gold plating damages the centuries old writings and images on the walls of the holy temple.
The time given by the court for the Ttd to respond was four weeks.
