At last after weathering many storms, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza was united in wedlock with Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik at the Taj Krishna hotel here on Monday.The much-hyped wedding will be followed by Mehendi ceremony on April 13, Sangeet on April 14 and the grand reception will be held on April 15 as scheduled.
Rucha Nayak, Sania’s PRO revealed that the tennis star was dressed in the same red saree, which her mother wore at her own Nikah 25 years back. Also, it is stated that she had a subtle make-up and the much raved about Arabic mehendi. On the other hand, Shoaib is has put on a Black sherwani designed by renowned designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil.
The turn of events of Sania’s marriage were unexpected. Sania's father Imran Mirza was on record only the other night stating that all the wedding ceremonies will commence only on April 13 and also the fact that confusion still prevails aboutwhether the police had handed over the passport or not.
It may be recalled here that it was felt that passport was mandatory for 'nikah' between Sania and Malik but things moved in fast and thick from Mirzas' side, taking many by surprise.
