Units of the Left parties in the State echoed the call given on a national scale and took part in protests over the rising prices of essential commodities in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The ‘jail bharo’ call was given by the Left parties to provoke a reaction by the Centre and various state governments and take steps to control the unprecedented rise in prices of essential commodities.

Following the Jail Bharo call given by Left parties-- CPI, CPI(M), RSP and Forward Bloc in the country,  CPI state leader Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, CPI state secretary Narayana and CPI M state secretary B V Raghavulu staged a dharna in front of Accountant General Office in the city on Thursday.

The leaders accused the Central and State Governments of being silent spectators to the spiralling prices of essential commodities.

They stated that both Centre and state government have miserably failed to control sky-rocketing prices. They also urged the government to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel prices.

The Left party leaders threatened that they would intensify their agitation till the government takes steps for reducing essential commodity prices in the market.

Raising the anti-government slogans, the Left party workers disrupted traffic.The police stepped in to control the situation and took the agitating activists into custody.
