Hyderabad, Aug 11 :-
The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to lift the stay orders on Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (Ghmc) elections . The case has been adjourned to August 21.
Meanwhile the case filed by various groups alleging discrepancies in reservations and voters lists in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh will come up for hearing on September 17.
As reported earlier the Andhra Pradesh High Court on July 29 stayed the process for the elections to the Ghmc after various groups alleged discrepancies in reservations and voters lists.
In an interim order, the court directed the government not to go ahead with the poll process. A division bench headed by Chief Justice A.R. Dave passed the orders on a batch of writ petitions filed by various groups.
The court passed the orders on petitions challenging the manner in which divisions were reserved for backward classes.
The petitioners said there were several discrepancies in reservations and also in the voters’ lists. They also challenged the delimitation of certain divisions.
