In a desperate bid to create a constitutional crisis in the state, the Telangana Rastra Samithi chief, K Chandrasekhar Rao, asked the Telugu Desam MLAs to submit their resignations to Assembly Speaker N Kirankumar Reddy and ensure that they are accepted.
Irked by TDP MLAs who said they would resign only if the Congress MLAs also resigned in acceptance of the JAC’s call, the TRS chief took strong exception to the TD’s decision and wondered why the TD was indifferent to the JAC’s demand.
The Congress MLAs of Telangana said they would not resign from the Assembly, but mount pressure on the government to speed up the process. The Telugu Desam too said it would resign only if the Congress MLAs resigned.
KCR said the Telangana JAC would call for social boycott of the MLAs who fail to resign. He said the JAC would pass a resolution and appeal to the people to enforce the social boycott.
The TD, which has been more vociferous on the Telangana issue, is now waiting for the Congress leaders to act on the resignations. The big question mark is will the TD follow the JAC or the Congress?
