Hyderabad, Feb 9: In a bid to draw the attention of the Centre on Telangana, the MLAs hailing from Telangana region have decided to boycott the forthcoming budget sessions if the terms of reference of the Justice Srikrishna Committee are not in favour of the formation of separate Telangana state. The Congress MLAs of Telangana region who met at the residence of Congress Working Committee member K Keshava Rao, have taken this decision. Coming under the pressure of all–party political Joint Action Committee, the Telangana congress MLAs have taken this stand.
However, the JAC has so far not hinted to its MLAs to keep away from the budget sessions. It is the only congress MLAs who have taken this decision. The stand of other ploliticla parties in theis regard is still not known.“We, the Telangana Congress MLAs, have decided to keep away from the budget sessions of the assembly as a protest if there is no mention of Telangana in the Srikrishna Committee and there is no specific time frame for formation of separate state. We will see how the Rosaiah government will pass the budget without the Telangana MLAs,” Gajwel MLA Narsa Reddy and former MLA T Jeevan Reddy said.If all the other party MLAs follow the suit of Cong MLAs, then the assembly will have just 175 MLAs and it is difficult to pass the budget with this strength.
