Kadapa, Feb 9: Resenting the attack on doctors, the medicos of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) boycotted their duties jeopardising the services on Tuesday.Relatives of a patient, Maheshwar Reddy, who died while undergoing treatment, on Tuesday morning assaulted the doctors alleging negligence on the part of the doctors. During the attack one doctor was injured.
However, Rims officials maintained that Maheshwar Reddy was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition and died on Tuesday morning.Demanding protection against such attacks, the doctors staged a demonstration in front of the hospital. Apart from staying away from treating the inpatients, the doctors have threatened to boycott all out-patient and emergency duties. Medical services at Rims were affected all through the day following the protests.
