The YSR Congress Party has demanded that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu issue a statement assuring the Dwacra groups that their loans would be waived to instill confidence in them as many groups are getting court notices.
"They have been getting bank notices earlier, but now they are getting court notices, as they became defaulters after they believed the promises of Chandrababu Naidu that their loans would be waived and they can redeem their gold pawned in the banks," party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told the media. The women are scared of the notices, as majority of the Dwacra groups are now degraded from Category A to Category C, as they became defaulters believing Chandrababu Naidu’s election promises, she said.
The Dwacra groups owe about Rs 14,700 crore and the state has issued only Rs 3,000 crore evolving fund, which serves no purpose. This is forcing the women to turn to private money lenders who in turn are exploiting the women, the YSRCP leader said.
