The Opposition parties are staging dharnas and protests frequently in the assembly in view of upcoming elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, alleged the Chief Minister, Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, on Wednesday.
Intervening in the discussion on providing houses for economically weaker sections in the limits of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the Chief Minister said the Telugu Desam Party has the credit of selling public lands to middlemen in the capital. He questioned the TDP leaders asking them to list out the houses they constructed during their stint in power.
He said the Congress Government has taken up construction of 1.21 lakh houses for economically weaker sections after it assumed power. So far the government has completed 40,000 houses and the rest will be completed in their scheduled time. There is no compromise in the quality of construction and we go by the standards and norms as per the agreement, he added.
