The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has made arrangements by providing transport on hired basis across the state to enable the people to reach their destination and the same would be continued during the strike period, Chief Secretary informed.

Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao held a meeting with the Officers of Transport, Home Departments at Secretariat and through Video Conference with all the Districts Collectors, Superintendent of Police to review on the strike situation and alternative arrangements, emergency services made.

The Chief Secretary has directed the officials to closely monitor the situation to make alternative arrangement to minimise hardship to the public, students, employees, pilgrims and especially for the candidates those who are attending EAMCET-2015 entrance exam going to be held on May 8 and other examinations held in the state between May 9 and 11, Transport would provide from all the Mandal Headquarters to examination centres without compromising on safety measures. Normal lives of the public should not be affected due to the strike, Sri Krishna Rao said.

Essential city services may be maintained with co-operation of neighbour States Karnataka and Tamilnadu for the border districts like Rayalaseema and Nellore as far as possible hardship of the commuters are reduced, the Chief Secretary said.

The Chief Secretary has issued instructions to the District Officers that any of the candidates reaching the examination centres in the night necessary arrangements like – accommodation, food, water and other facilities by taking them to BC, SC other Hostels. Bandobust and other supportive steps may also be taken by the District Officers and dislocation of the transport should not be traced.

Prl. Secretary TR&B B. Sam Bob, APSRTC Managing Director Sambasiva Rao, Prl. Secretary Tribal Welfare Vidya Sagar, Law and Order Inspector General Harish Gupta and other officials attended the meeting.
