Hyderabad,Dec 15: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Tuesday paid floral tributes to mark the 57th death anniversary of United Andhra activist Potti Sriramulu at his statue near the Secretariat here.Rosaiah recalled the services of Sriramulu for uniting Telangana,coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions with Hyderabad. Sriramulu died after fasting for 58 days in 1952 before the Andhra Pradesh state was formed.Health Minister Danam Nagender,Minister for Endowments Gade Venkatreddy, former minister J C Diwakar Reddy,Greater Hyderabad MLAs and MLCs also paid their tributes along with Chief Minister.
Meanwhile,Kadapa MLC Y S Vivekananda Reddy staged a sit-in in front of Potti Sriramulu statue at the Secretariat extending solidarity with the activists of united Andhra Pradesh. He urged the police not to arrest him as he was continuing his dharna in a peaceful manner.However,the police arrested him before shifting him to Goshamahal Stadium stating as he had not taken prior permission to stage a dharna. But Vivekananda Reddy continued his dharna at the Goshamahal Stadium.
