Kadiam Srihari assumed the charge as the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana State at the D-Block of State Secretariat here on Friday.
Speaking to media persons later, Kadiam assured that he would maintain transparency and accountability in the functioning of Education Department, which has been assigned to him by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He said implementation of KG to PG free education scheme would be one of his top priorities. Further, the process of teachers' recruitment through District Selection Committees (DSCs) would be hastened. He also advocated good coordination with the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh State to end controversies over conduct of intermediate exams, EAMCET and other common entrance tests.
Kadiam said steps would be taken to take education in Telangana on par with international standards. He said he would implement the policy of zero tolerance to corruption in education department. He thanked KCR for making him the Deputy CM and assigning the Education Department portfolio. He advised the students of Telangana to nurture competitive spirit and emerge as the best in the country.
Ministers including Nayani Narasimha Reddy (Home), Etala Rajender (Finance), T Harish Rao (Irrigation), P Srinivas Reddy (Agriculture) and G Jagadish Reddy (Energy) were present on the occasion.
