YSR widow may be unanimous choice for Pulivendula

Hyderabad, Nov 30 (INN): Vijayalakshmi, the widow of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, is all set to be the unanimous choice for Pulivendula Assembly constituency as the major political parties in the State including the Tdp are unlikely to file their nominees to the seat.The byelection to Pulivendula was necessitated by the death of Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy in a copter crash. The Congress party high command has decided to nominate Vijayalakshmi. She has also agreed to file her nomination papers on behalf of the party on December 1. She is expected to address a meeting of Congress activists and supporters of YSR at YSR Auditorium before  filing her papers.Earlier in the day, Telugu Desam Party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu told newspersons after holding a meeting with leaders from Kadapa and particularly Pulivendula that the Tdp would opt out of contest for Pulivendula.

The Tdp seemed to have decided to leave the seat without staking a claim for it. The Tdp gesture seemed to leave the seat to Vijayalakshmi as a mark of respect for YSRajasekhar Reddy.The Praja Rajyam Party led by matinee idol-tuned politician Chiranjeevi, earlier decided against fielding any candidate to Pulivendula Assembly constituency.In the event of Vijayalakshmi facing an electoral confrontation, she is already armed with a campaign panel. YSR’s brothers YS Vive k a n a n d a Reddy, Bhaskar Reddy and Manohar Reddy, relative EC Gangi Reddy and Congress leader D Sivashankar Reddy will act as her campaign incharges.The bypoll to Pulivendula is scheduled for December 19. Vijayalakshmi will file her papers on Tuesday afternoon, exactly a day before the filing of nominations to the seat concludes officially.
