Medak,Nov 10: The situation in Papannapet of Medak district turned out to be tense following clashes between  workers of Telugu Desam Party and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti on Tuesday.The TRS which staged a dharna at  Papannapet called for a bandh in protest against the land encroachment of Dalits by Andhra settlers.They demanded that the assigned lands which were distributed to the Dalits should be taken over by the Government and  redistribution must take place.Alleging that the lands distributed to the dalits were encroached by the Andhra  settlers they staged a dharna in front of the Revenue office in Papnnapet.Responding to the demands of TRS  supporter on the issue of encroached land,the revenue officials started surveying the land in Lalkshmipuram  village.

This led to a lot of friction between the supporters of TRS and Telugu desam.Supporting the agitation in Papannapet by the TRS,the traders,business men in Lakshmipuram rolled down their shutters.As a precautionary measure the police deployed a large security forces in Papannapet and the joint collector of Medak is camping in Papannapet.The District Collector is monitoring the situation closely So that the situation may not go out of control.Siddipet MLA Harish Rao said that the agitation will continue In view of  the  dharna  in Papannapet,the shopkeepers and traders in Lakshmipuram closed down their shutters in support of the agitation.

KCR fails  to  turn up

Meanwhileit is learnt that K Chandrasekhar Rao,the chief of TRS who was in  Delhi and planned to join the agitation on Tuesday failed to turn up due to unavoidable circumstances.However he played his role well in Delhi by meeting  the SCST Commission and complained to the commission against the encroachment of land by Andhr settlers in Lakshmipuram village.He  requested the commission to visit Lakshmipuram and hold an inquiry into the incident.As reported earlier  KCR  had to wind up his New Delhi visit without meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi as he could not get theirappointment.KCR waited till late in the evening on Monday for their appointment but as there was no intimation from the PMO or Sonia Gandhi's office,he could notmeet  either of  them.
