BJP, which wants to carve a place for itself in Telangana has lost ground after winning Mahbubnagar by-election and TRS is not prepared to be in its fold for two reasons.

First there must have been an understanding with Centre about the merger with Congress or at least an understanding to that effect. TRS cannot afford to have a multiple contests in Telangana as BJP has is a formidable force in the region. It has to opt either of the national parties.

For obvious reasons TRS must be thinking of sailing with Congress to cash on the minority votes and standing for secularism. It has been propagating that it lost Mahbubnagar assembly seat as BJP has whipped up communal feelings.

The second scenario is that it wants to clear ground and pitch its tent and needs a powerful ally in the state and in all probability it is eyeing TDP. The recent outbursts at YSR family members are a signal that it is opposing YSRCP and will a friend to its common enemy.

Will it be TDP or not things will come into the open only during polls or in there is every possibility that there could be a post poll alliance.

Congress and TRS in all possibility will have a pre-poll tie-up if there is no merger. BJP is looking any ally in TDP and YSRCP will go on its own and have a post poll alliance or support from outside or whatever format suits the coalition at the centre.

The situation being fluid and the matrix having many elements the equations may change but the line of approach may not have major changes.

But in politics anything can happen, there could be some surprises as well.
