Telangana Congress MPs on Thursday called on party president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to thank her for convening an all-party meeting over Telangana issue on December 28.

During the meeting, the MPs have reportedly briefed Sonia Gandhi about the possible consequences if Congress party fails to take a favourable stand on the Telangana formation. They requested her to ensure that immediate steps were taken for the State formation after the all-party meeting on December 28.

Union Health Minister and in-charge of the AP Congress affairs Gulam Nabi Azad and Sonia's Political Advisor Ahmed Patel were also present in the meeting that lasted for about 50 minutes.

Talking to reporters later, the MPs appealed to the opposition parties to express their clear stand on Telangana during the all-party meeting on December 28. They said that the Congress party would also clarify its stand on the issue after eliciting the opinion of opposition leaders. However, they said the leaders who have been resorting to double-speak on the issue would get exposed in the all-party meeting.
