Hyderabad, July 24 :-
From the day one of the Budget Session, the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was on a collision course with the ruling Congress party, with party legislators launching a Padayatra from the NTR Ghat to the Assembly to protest the soaring prices of pulses and other essential commodities.
Opposition Leader Mr N Chandrababu Naidu also boycotted the customary breakfast hosted by the Assembly Speaker, Mr N Kirankumar Reddy, protesting against the arrest of TDP on alleged charges of sexual harassment of two Kerala girls studying in the nursing college run by him.
The TDP MLAs, who launched padayatra, alleged that illegal projects being constructed by upper riparian states of Maharashtra and Karnataka across Rivers Godavari and Krishna respectively, would jeoparadise the state farmers’ interests.
But, Floor Leaders of other parties including Praja Rajyam Party's Mr K Chiranjeevi, Telangana Rashtra Samiti Legislature Party Leader Mr E Rajender, All India Majilis-E-Itihadul Muslimeen Floor Leader Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi, CPI's Mr Mallesh, CPI(M) Legislator Mr J Ranga Reddy, Lok Satta Party chief Mr Jayaprakash Narayan and BJP Floor Leader Mr G Kishan Reddy attended the customary breakfast of Speaker.
