Ponnam slams Dharmana Committee for skipping ''T' issue

Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Thursday came down heavily on the Dharmana Committee for not giving prominence to the Telangana issue while submitting its report to the party and the government.

Talking to media persons, the MP took serious note on the Dharmana Committee for not including the bifurcation of State issue in its recommendations. He said that any committee's report submitted to the government without bothering about the aspirations of Telangana people was incomplete and described it as 'wasteful exercise'. He also slammed Roads and Buildings Minister B Dharmana Prasad Rao for not seeking opinions of MPs while submitting his report.

Ponnam criticized the State Government for providing a large contingent of police for the Maha Deeksha of YSRCP honorary president Vijayamma at Sircilla in Karimnagar for the cause of weavers’ welfare. He asked as to how the government could provide such large police protection to Vijayamma's Deeksha. Questioning the rationale behind providing security, he slammed the government for leveling false cases against MPs during the time of agitation. He asked Vijayamma to explain as to what she has achieved with the one day Deeksha.

The Karimnagar MP also condemned the Seemandhra leaders' statements against Telangana which he said was like insulting the statehood agitation. He also suspected the commitment of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu over the BC declaration. He said that no one would believe Naidu’s political stunts.

Ponnam also thanked the Centre for implementing 27 percent reservation for BCs in the allotment of petrol and diesel dealerships.
