Congress in jitters as Vjayamma takes the baton: YSRC

Ysr Congress Party on Thursday said that the ruling Congress was in jitters after seeing the response YS Vijayamma has been drawing in her electioneering and it has been floating baseless issues to keep its flock together.

“Seeing the huge response to the public meetings of YS VIjayamma and her daughter Sharmila, Congress fell into another bout of crisis and is trying hard to keep its flock together on one hand and trying to spread false stories to tarnish the image of YS Jagan,” party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters here.

The state political canvas will undergo a sea change after June 15 and many people who owe it to YS Rajasekhara Reddy have been coming out in the open to support YS Vijayamma, after her son was sent to jail, he said.

Some of the comments by leaders on YS Vijaymma’s campaign trail and the way in which her electioneering is being projected do not stand on a fair and level play field, he said.

“Latest to join the bandwagon of trying to tarnish the image of YS Jagan is Congress MP, Lagadapati Rajagopal, who was a laughing stalk on many an occasion. He suddenly wakes up to quote incidents and tries to sensationalise them with the help of the section of media that is opposed to Sakshi media house.”

First he went on to say that he was threatened by YS Jaganmohan Reddy at an airport sometime back. The statement has many fallacies as it cannot be vouched properly and the timing is so poor that even a layman asks as to why he was silent for such a time, he said.

This is nothing but an attempt to show the High Command that he too is doing his bit in the “target Jagan” campaign, he said adding that his allegations need not be taken seriously as he is known for his Quixotic behaviour.

In his second allegation, Lagadapati said that Jagan had threatened a film producer-cum-director to delete from his film a character which resembles the Kadapa MP. “This is ridiculous as the film had passed by, rather quickly, and that was long time ago. Why he did not complain on the issue at that time is the obvious question. If the Parliamentarian and the film director are going to channels with their version now it sounds ridiculous,” he said adding that both were publicity mongers.

The AICC which announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each to kin of those who died after the death of YS Rajasekhar Reddy went back on the promise and the response to YS family members has become an eye-sore to Congress as many people thought that confining YS Jaganmohan Reddy to jail would hamper YSRC chances in the by-polls.

“In reality the Congress scheme has boomeranged and put the party in deeper trouble as more and more Congressmen are expressing support to YSRC with every passing day,” he said adding that once the by-poll results are out things would be different.
