Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary B V Raghavulu on Thursday stated that the (CpiM) would go alone in the ensuing by-elections without having any tie-up with the Telugu Desam Party.
Talking to media persons after CPM's State Secretariat meeting held at party office at RTC cross roads, Raghavulu said that the party has decided to contest independently from a few constituencies where it has strong base. However, the party will not have any alliance with the TDP in the ensuing by-elections, he stated.
However, the party State Secretariat has decided to have tie-up with Communist Party of India and Lok Satta in some constituencies. “Discussions are going on over having tie-up with the Cpi and the Lok Satta in some Assembly segments,” Raghavulu said. The party has decided to contest alone in some constituencies including Anantapur, Polavaram, Payakaraopeta, Tirupati and Ongole. However, a decision on contesting from these segments would be finalized only after having discussions with the Cpi and Lok Satta, he said.
Raghavulu said that the Secretariat convention has decided to conduct a state level meeting on April 25-26 to discuss on the State and Central Government policies and their 'anti-people' measures. He said that the State-level meeting would also take up a discussion on rising prices, corruption and liquor scam. Another convention would be held to decide the agitations to be taken up against the State Government.
Responding to BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu's statement that there were no chances for formation of Third Front in the country, he said that the Left parties would always oppose the communal BJP resuming power at the Centre.
Responding to Congress emissary Vayalar Ravi's visit to the state, Raghavulu said that Ravi’s visit has exposed groupism and differences among leaders of the ruling party. “Vayalar Ravi's visit is not beneficial to the State except exposing internal chinks in the Congress groups,” he said.
