Botsa launches by-polls campaign in Tirupati

Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday stated that the Congress party candidate for  the Tirupati Assembly constituency would be finalized in the next 10 days.

Talking to media persons after launching the by-elections campaign, Botsa Satyanarayana said that the announcement of candidate was delayed due to too many aspirants from the constituency. Stating that the party would go for by-elections campaign with welfare schemes and development as prime agenda, he expressed confidence that the party would win in all the constituencies and the Opposition Telugu Desam Party would relegated to the third position.

Botsa countered TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu's statement of him having difference with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and both were fighting school children. He also lashed out at Naidu for criticizing Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi for not taking development works in Tirupati. He said that there was no need to learn lesson from Naidu for the Congress leaders.

The PCC chief said that in Naidu's school, the leaders would be imparted anti-people lessons to the cadre. However, in the Congress party, the leaders would learn people-friendly lessons and they take the government welfare schemes and programmes before the doorsteps of people, he said.

Reiterating that former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was a true Congress leader, he said that the party would use his pictures in the by-elections. He hoped that the Election Commission would announce notification for the by-elections for 18 assembly segments before the local body elections in the State.
