Former Congress minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Saturday came down heavily on the State Government for 'indiscriminate' transfer of the ACB officials in order to shield the corrupt ministers, who were found having nexus with the liquor syndicates.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Shankar Rao said that the transferring of ACB Joint Director Srinivasa Reddy to Coastal Security would definitely damage the party and government’s image. In order to shield the corrupt ministers, he said that the government should not stoop to such level and ignore the moral values. “The transfer of Srinivasa Reddy in the name of promotion to Coastal Security is aimed to dilute the ACB investigations into the liquor syndicate issue,” he said.
Though the transfer of sincere and outright officials would affect the morale of entire department, he advised the officials not to lose confidence and hopes. He asked as to how the Chief Minister, who recently claimed to bring the guilty to book, could transfer the officials when the investigations were in a crucial phase.
Responding to media reports about his 'forced resignation' from the Kiran Kumar Reddy Cabinet, the former minister claimed that he never resigned from his minister’s post.
Dr Shankar Rao said that he did not attend the Telangana Congress leaders meeting as he did not get the invite from the leaders.
