Over 30 MLAs raise questions in Zero Hour

Notorious for making uproar and din in the House, the MLAs across party lines, appeared to be in a good mood to carryout regular business in the State Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

With all members cooperating with the Chair, Speaker Nadendla Manohar was able to allow as many 34 MLAs to raise their questions during the Zero Hour.

CPI's J Ranga Reddy complained of lack of coordination among various departments during the release of water from Nagarjuna Sagar resevoir. Alleging irregularities in the admissions in the Social Welfare schools, TDP member Vanitha demanded setting up of a mechanism to supervise the the process to ensure that all deserving students get admission.  Congress MLA Ramayanjulu highlighted the traffic problems in Vijayawada city while Kotulamma complained of unscheduled power cuts.

Serilingampally MLA Bikshapati of Congress party complained of supply of contaminated water for drinking in the Lingampally area. He said there was no coordination between the officials of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. He said the local residents were suffering due to the negligence of civic authorities.

MIM MLA Ahmed Balala said that the results for Urdu medium candidates of DSC 2006 and 2008 were yet to be announced. He said the reserved seats were not converted to open category and therefore, several candidates were crossing the age limit for recruitment. He also emphasised that vacant posts of Urdu teachers be filled soon.

TDP's M Rambabu alleged that there were irregularities in the distribution of flood relief in Guntur district. PRP's Srinivas said that the local residents were facing severe health problems due to absence of proper drainage system in Vijayawada. TDP MLA Raju said that the irrigation in Kalaveru region was completely dead and demanded that the government allocate funds for its revival.

MIM MLA Muqteda Afsar Khan complained of harassment of local civilians by the military personnel in Mohammadi Lines. He said the military personnel were interfering into the day-to-day affairs of local residents and were not allowing them to even paint their houses. He said that the military personnel even demolished the foundation stone of a development project that he laid in the area recently. He asked the State Government to take up the matter with the Defence authorities.

TDP MLA Errabelli Dayakar Rao complained of shortage of drinking water in the Nalgonda and Warangal districts. Similarly, another TDP MLA Venkat Ramana highlighted the drinking water problem in Delta areas.

Congress MLA Usha Rani, nominated member Christine Lazarus and others also raised their questions.
