Telangana Nagara Samithi president and former MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday filed his nomination as an independent candidate from Nagarkurnool Assembly segment, for which the by-elections will be held on March 18.
Before filing his nomination papers, Nagam Janardhan Reddy came in a procession from Achampet, where he performed special puja at Umamaheswara Swamy Temple to seeking blessings of God for his victory. In the procession, Nagam was accompanied by Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA Vidyasagar Rao, MLC Naradas Lakshma Rao and hundreds of pro-Telangana activists.
It may be recalled that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram stated that they would extend their full support for Nagam in the by-elections, who resigned for the cause of Telangana from the Telugu Desam Party.
The pro-Telangana activists stated that they would work for the victory of Nagam with huge margin in the by-elections.
Congress candidate Muthyala Prakash filed his nomination from Mahbubnagar Assembly segment while E Rajareddy filed his papers from Kamareddy constituency on the last day of filing of nomination papers.
The scrutiny of nominations will be held on Thursday and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 3.
