Former Congress minister J C Diwakar Reddy on Tuesday hailed the Centre’s proposed move to establish Regional Councils with complete financial autonomy.
Talking to media persons, he said that the Regional Councils with special financial packages would help in the development of backward areas. Responding to demand for Telangana State, he said that the Centre would focus its attention on this issue only after completion of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and by-elections in the State. He expressed confidence that the position of Congress would improve in the by-elections.
Diwakar Reddy said that the Chief Minister was confident of winning two constituencies –Mahbubnagar and Nagarkurnool in the by-elections.
