TDP MLC calls off fast

Tdp Mlc Satish Kumar Reddy on Wednesday called off his four-day fast following the government’s direction to irrigation authorities to release water to Pulivendula Branch Canal from regulator at Tumpera.

Calling off the fast at Pulivendula Tahsildar’s office, Satish Kumar Reddy thanked the government for releasing water to Pulivendula Branch Canal.

The Tdp Mlc was on fast from Friday.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the Anantapur and Kadapa District Collectors to convene a meeting with irrigation officials and take steps to resolve the issue on priority basis.

Under the agreement, the irrigation officials released 350 cusecs water to Pulivendula branch canal from Tumpera deep cut on daily basis to meet drinking and irrigation water needs.

The water release was stopped after Tadipatri Branch Canal ayacut farmers staged protest against supplying water to tail-end areas without supplying to them.
