KKR Govt not in minority: Governor

Governor E S L Narasimhan on Monday stated that the government led by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was not in minority.

The Governor made this statement after discussing the situation in the State during his meeting with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi. This statement assumes importance in the wake of media reports that Kiran Kumar Reddy government fell into minority with the resignation of three MLAs from the Congress party.

Narasimhan said that there was no need to prove majority in the assembly for Kiran Kumar Reddy as Assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar is yet to take a decision on the resignations. He felt that Kiran Kumar reddy government has sufficient strength to prove majority in the House. Stating that there is no need for a Trust Vote for Kiran Kumar Reddy, he asked how the government could fall into minority with the resignation of three MLAs.

The Governor said that he has not submitted any report to the Union Home Minister over the situation in Telangana. He said the law and order situation in the state, particularly in Telangana region was under complete control.

Responding a question on displacement of villagers due to the construction of Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project on river Godavari, the Governor said that he would look into issue seriously and take a decision after consulting the experts.
