The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (Trs) on Wednesday asked Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to officially celebrate September 17, the Telangana Liberation Day, as a state-level festival.
Trs Deputy Floor Leader in the Legislative Assembly, T Harish Rao urged the Ministers from Telangana region to participate in the function in their official capacity. He said this would be in the fitness of things as it would demonstrate their serious for a separate Telangana State.
Meanwhile, he told the media that the Trs would not hanker for posts if the Telangana leaders from Congress and Telugu Desam press for the acceptance of their resignations from the House. He said the leaders should also put pressure on the Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar to accept their resignations.
Harish Rao ridiculed the Congress and TDP leaders for deliberately maligning the Trs image. He alleged that those leaders were not backing their utterances with concrete signs of actually fighting for a separate Telangana State.
Taking serious exception to the charges that TSD leaders were staying away from the interiors, he wanted the Congress and TDP leaders to visit their respective constituencies and gauze the popular public sentiment. He said the people were desperate for the creation of Telangana state as a measure of getting their due share.
