Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday resigned from the primary membership of the Telugu Desam Party. It triggered en-masse` resignations with his supporters, including senior leaders like S Venugopala Chary, HarishwarReddy and Joguramma, following suit.
Dr Reddy who was suspended for anti-party activities had vacated his Nagarkurnool assembly seat, which is pending with the Speaker, demanding separate state for Telangana.
Nagam and others sent in their papers to the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu by e-mail.
Nagam had differences with Naidu over the latter’s silence eon the statehood issue. Stung by the criticism, the party suspended Dr Reddy from the party.
Later speaking to media outside Old MLA Quarters, Janardhan Reddy said he would announce a United Movement Forum on Friday. He said that the new umbrella would intensify the movement for Telangana state.
