Condemning the statement of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram that a fresh resolution was needed to be passed by the state Assembly for the deletion of Clause 14 F from the Presidential Orders, Telangana Rashtra Samithi Floor Leader Etela Rajender on Tuesday said that the ‘irresponsible and irrelevant statement’ were insulting the Telangana people.
Talking to media persons at Telangana Bhavan, Mr Rajender said that, “Mr Chidambaram has lost his mental balance and that is why he was making such irresponsible and irrelevant comments.” He asked, “What is the need for passing a resolution in the Assembly when such a resolution was cleared by same House last year.” “If Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana are really committed to Telangana, they should mount pressure on the Centre and pass a resolution in Parliament deleting clause 14 F from the Presidential Orders,” Mr Rajender said. He warned both the State and Central Government of serious consequences if they go ahead with recruitment for police sub-inspectors. Speaking at the same press meeting, former MP Vinod Kumar alleged that the Centre was not serious on the issue despite passing of Assembly resolution 16 months earlier. Suspecting the commitment of Centre, Mr Vinod Kumar appealed to Telangana leaders to open their eyes and intensify their agitation towards the injustice meted out to the people of the region.
