Telugu Desam Party Telangana Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Wednesday stated that his party president N Chandrababu Naidu will give a letter stating that he has no objections to the formation of a separate Telangana state within half-an-hour of Congress president Sonia Gandhi making her stand clear on the separate statehood demand.
Talking to media persons at Telugu Desam Legislature Party Office, Mr Dayakar Rao demanded that Ms Sonia Gandhi clear her stand instead of maintaining a stoic silence on the separate statehood demand. The Tdp leader also spewed venom at Congress In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad on his statement that an `unanimous’ opinion was necessary for the formation of Telangana state. “Was the Congress not aware of the separate statehood demand when it entered into an electoral alliance with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi before the 2004 general election? Was Mr Azad not aware of the Telangana statehood mentioned in his own party’s manifesto?” questioned the senior Tdp leader. He continued, “After mentioning the separate Telangana promise in its election manifesto and entering into an alliance with the TRS, the Congress has been cheating people on Telangana.” Mr Dayakar Rao also condemned Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee’s statement that the statement made on December 9, 2009 by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram was made in haste and due to a communication gap between state government and precarious health condition of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao. He also condemned the Congress and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao for targeting Tdp leaders despite the party making its stand clear on the separate statehood demand. Mr Dayakar Rao warned KCR of serious consequences if the TRS does not stop its attacks on the Tdp leaders. “The TRS is acting like a mafia in the region and minting money on Telangana issue,” he alleged.
